Mr Sandeep Gujral

Mr Sandy Gujral is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at practising at Westland Medical Centre.

Mr Gujral has extensive training in surgery and urology, from the prestigious UK training programmes in Oxford and Bristol. Additionally, he has undertaken training visits to Philadelphia, USA, through a competitive British Urological Foundation Fellowship.

He was the pioneering laparoscopic urology surgeon in his NHS Trust, having carried out the first laparoscopic nephrectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy at Harold Wood Hospital in 2003. He is a designated pelvic urology surgeon, regularly undertaking complex bladder and prostate surgery for cancer and benign conditions and has taken a lead on introducing enhanced recovery programmes for pelvic surgery.

He regularly works in tandem with fellow gynaecologists and colo-rectal surgeons to perform complex operations. He has undertaken over 200 radical prostatectomy operations for prostate cancer, 100 radical cystectomy operations for bladder cancer and 200 laparoscopic and open kidney removal operations. At his NHS Trust Sandy Gujral is the lead clinician for urological cancers and, specifically for prostate cancer diagnostics and robotic arm prostatectomy. He is a member of the London Cancer Urology Pathway Board as the lead surgeon for bladder cancer.

Mr Gujral has a significant interest in urology research and has published over 50 peer reviewed papers. He has also given over 100 national and international presentations. He undertook one of the largest published trials of laser surgery on the prostate – the CLasP trial.

In his NHS and private practice, Sandy Gujral prides himself in offering a holistic approach to managing his patients, from initial consultation through to discharge. He has an excellent team including his personal assistant, nurse specialists and other colleagues who work to ensure good communication and rapid recovery to normal health for all his patients.
